The latest version of the well-known JK Inverter BMS

In comparison to the previous version, a number of structural and software changes have been introduced to improve the functionality of the device. The most important of these are:

  • Improved algorithm for calculating the battery State of Charge (SOC).
  • Compatibility with the new 4.3″ all-glass LCD screen. When connecting batteries equipped with the V19 BMS in parallel and using the new screen, it is possible to display data from all BMS units on a single shared screen.
  • New design for selected output ports.
  • Completely new software (firmware), which is not compatible with JK Inverter BMS versions V14 and V15.

At the same time, JK has maintained full backward compatibility. This means that energy storage systems equipped with different versions of the JK Inverter BMS can work together seamlessly in a parallel configuration.

Future software development is planned exclusively for the new V19 version. For V14 and V15 software, only newly discovered bugs will be addressed.

The JK Inverter BMS for energy storage management is a system that combines a SMART BMS, a parallel module, an active balancer, and a Comboard communication interface into a single device.

This solution significantly simplifies the installation process and reduces overall costs. The JK Inverter BMS provides full communication (CAN/RS485) with most inverters available on the market.

It provides all the protection and monitoring functions of a Smart BMS while enabling the safe parallel connection of multiple energy storage units (each equipped with its own identical BMS system). The active balancer ensures cell voltage equalization using currents up to 1A or 2A, meeting the requirements of high-capacity cells. Parameter monitoring is available via an optional LCD screen or the standard Bluetooth (BT) application.

Through the communication interface board, it is possible to select the appropriate protocol and establish communication with most inverters available on the market. A PC program is not required for this; the mobile application is sufficient.

The JK BMS is a fully configurable device. This means that it can be used to support Li-Ion, Li-FePO4, LTO cell packages. It is designed to work with varying numbers of cells (within the range specified for the given BMS).

The device needs to be configured in the mobile app for proper operation. At a minimum, it is required to specify the number of cells and the battery type. Without completing this configuration, the BMS will not protect the pack properly, which may lead to its damage.

The configuration is described in detail in the attached manual.

The system’s operating parameters can be modified by the pack designer to adapt them to specific requirements; for example, one can limit the charging temperature range or increase the minimum cut-off voltage to extend the battery’s lifespan.

The integrated architecture eliminates the need for complex wiring between individual system modules. The cost-effectiveness of this solution is significantly higher when compared to the expense of purchasing and integrating standalone components.

NOTE: All SMART BMSs have higher current consumption than standard BMSs. This results in the necessity of recharging the packs during long-term storage!
